In January 2016 Asia Reinsurance Brokers Pte Ltd purchased 80% of PT Adi Pratama Asia, following regulatory approvals from both Singapore and Indonesia. The new entity was shortly afterwards rebranded PT Asia Reinsurance Brokers Indonesia (ARB Indonesia) and is licensed with Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) and fully complies with all regulations.
ARB Indonesia is committed to providing international quality reinsurance broking services to insurance companies and reinsurers alike, coupled with the highest ethical and corporate governance standards. Working closely with our colleagues in Singapore, ARB Indonesia is able to deliver state of the art actuarial and analytical skills to our clients whilst at the same time understanding local culture and values.
It will also augment and strengthen the compliance function by adopting international “best practice” standards on reporting and audit.
ARB Indonesia is a member of Insurance & Reinsurance Brokers Association (APPARINDO).
Insurance and reinsurance in Indonesia have a significant potential growth and a strong regulatory by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). There were around 150 companies with majority focused on Non-Life insurance and the market is dominated by property, motor vehicle and credit. Both Life and Non-Life insurance premiums have continued to expand, supported by rising income levels, bancassurance partnerships and the adoption of digital distribution channels. Despite this growth, low penetration rate and public trust are still a challenge.
On the reinsurance side, demand is increasing due to heightened catastrophe exposures, particularly from natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, which have also driven the reinsurance pricing. Local reinsurers play a central role in providing capacity. Overall, Indonesia’s market combines strong growth opportunities with challenges linked to catastrophe risk, underinsurance, and evolving regulatory dynamics.
